Nine Muses | Homer Inspired

Sing, O Muse, daughters of divine Mnemosyne,
Goddesses of inspiration, woven with grace,
Nine bright stars that light the darkened skies of the mind,
Each one a beacon, guiding mortals through the arts.

First, call upon Calliope, the Muse of epic song,
With her voice like the thunder of Olympus,
She stirs the hearts of heroes, weaving tales of valor,
Her quill, dipped in the ink of eternity,
Scribes of fate, she sings of glories yet to come.

Next, behold Clio, the keeper of history’s scroll,
With scrolls unrolled, she recounts the deeds of ages,
In her hands, the past breathes anew,
A tapestry of triumphs and tragedies,
She etches the names of the mighty in the annals of time.

Then, gaze upon Erato, clad in the robes of love,
Her lyre strums the strings of the heart,
With sweet melodies that echo through the valleys,
She inspires the poets to pen verses of desire,
Painting emotions with the colors of the soul.

Hail to Euterpe, the Muse of music divine,
Her breath, the wind that stirs the leaves in spring,
With flute in hand, she conjures joy and sorrow,
Her notes dance like nymphs beneath the moon,
Enchanting the ears of both gods and men.

Next, Melpomene, with tragic mask in hand,
She weeps for the fallen and the forsaken,
Her sorrowful tales pierce the hearts of listeners,
As she weaves the fabric of despair and redemption,
In shadows deep, her words bring forth catharsis.

Behold Polyhymnia, the Muse of sacred song,
Veiled in mystery, she whispers to the pious,
Her hymns rise like incense to the heavens,
Guiding souls on their journey to the divine,
In her presence, the spirit finds solace.

Next, we honor Terpsichore, the Muse of dance,
With nimble feet, she twirls upon the earth,
Her laughter echoes in the rhythm of the heart,
A celebration of life, where joy takes flight,
In her embrace, bodies sway like the lush fields.

Then, gaze upon Thalia, the Muse of comedy,
Her smile brightens the darkest of days,
With jest and mirth, she lifts the weary spirit,
Her playful antics bring laughter to the halls,
In her company, all troubles fade away.

Lastly, we call upon Urania, the starry Muse,
With gaze directed toward the celestial spheres,
She unveils the mysteries of the heavens above,
Her wisdom illuminates the paths of the stars,
In her embrace, the cosmos unfolds in wonder.

Thus, O Muse, I sing of thy daughters,
In their presence, the arts blossom and thrive,
By their grace, the hearts of mortals are stirred,
And through their whispers, the world finds its voice.

Instructions of Shuruppak

Ubara-Tutu is recorded in most copies of the  Sumerian King List  as being the final king of Sumer prior to the  deluge . Ubara-tutu is briefly mentioned in  tablet XI  of the  Epic of Gilgamesh , where he is identified as the father of  Utnapishtim , a character who is instructed by the god  Ea  to build a boat in order to survive the coming flood.     Utnapishtim  ( Akkadian :  𒌓𒍣 , "he has found life") was a legendary king of the ancient city of  Shuruppak  in southern Iraq, who, according to the  Gilgamesh flood myth , one of several similar narratives, survived  the Flood  by making and occupying a boat.  He is called by different names in different traditions:  Ziusudra  ("Life of long days", rendered Xisuthros, Ξίσουθρος in  Berossus ) in the earliest, Sumerian versions, later Shuruppak (after his city),  Atra-hasis  ("exceeding wise") in the earliest  Ak...

Meditation on Numbers

ONE In  Hermetic  philosophy, the number 1 represents the Monad, the primordial unity from which all creation springs. It symbolizes the Absolute, the unmanifest Source, the Divine Oneness that precedes all differentiation. The Monad is seen as the origin of all numbers and the foundation of the cosmos. In  Jewish Kabbalah , the number 1 is associated with the concept of Ein Sof, the unknowable, infinite, and absolute Divine essence. It represents the singular, indivisible nature of the divine, emphasizing the unity and oneness of the divine source. In  Taoism , the number 1 is associated with the Tao, the ultimate, ineffable source of all existence. The Tao is seen as the singular, undifferentiated primal reality from which the myriad manifestations of the universe arise. The number 1 points to the inherent unity and wholeness of the Tao. Similarly, in  Buddhism , the number 1 can symbolize the non-dual nature of reality, the seamless oneness of all phen...

Giordano Bruno | l'infinito universo

Giordano Bruno (1548-1600) was an Italian philosopher, mathematician, poet, and astronomer who is renowned for his extensive writings and controversial ideas. He made significant contributions to various fields, including cosmology, philosophy, and the art of memory. Bruno's works challenged established religious and philosophical doctrines of his time and had a profound impact on the development of modern thought. "On the Infinite Universe and Worlds"  (De l'infinito universo et mondi): In this work, published in 1584, Bruno argues for the existence of an infinite universe with an infinite number of inhabited worlds. He rejected the geocentric model of the universe and proposed a heliocentric system, asserting that the Earth orbits the Sun alongside other celestial bodies. Bruno's ideas anticipated the concept of an infinite and diverse cosmos, which was revolutionary for the time. "The Ash Wednesday Supper"  (La cena de le ceneri): Published in 1584,...
